Artists Statement – Gregory Edwards

I have been a photographer for a number of years. One of my pictures was selected as one of only ten American pictures to be displayed at the Royal Photographic Society headquarter in Bath England during May 2013. Others have won numerous awards locally and throughout Northern California. I’ve been a staff photographer at Fanime for the past few years and have judged photo competitions for various N4C (Northern California Council of Camera Clubs) and 6C (Central Coast California Counties of Camera Clubs).

The artists who have most influenced me include: Edward and Kim Weston, Maxfield Parrish, Georgia O’Keefe, Lara Jade, Lindsay Adler, Sagar Manjarres.

During a six week desert journey in 2013 I realized that while I enjoy most kinds of photography, the photography I enjoyed most was making photographs that are slightly off; pictures that have elements of something more than our usual world. Fantasy, zombies and vampires, elves, warriors, etc. are great, but other solar systems, star travel, or even the our world in an unworldly light or normal people in unusual situations are also of high interest.
